IT is my name and not Software” claiming myself to be an “IT Engineer” and singing praises of IT Engineering, little had I known then that just in a matter of month or two, IT would no longer be mine! I would longer behold the right to call myself an “IT Engineer”. Tomorrow I will be in a Personal Interview with the Branch Change Co-ordinator and the Dean. I don’t know what shall happen, but people say I might just transit into Computer Engineering.

IT hasn’t been just a yet another “Branch Name” for me, it has been an IDENTITY. I remember we had the group day during the Cultural week in the college, and our batch H1 had the slogan written “We’re ITians, Heralds of the Virtual World” on our T-Shirt. I had composed this tagline, and now the same t-shirt shall be a void for me to wear. One more reason for my stronger bond with IT is the friends I made in the department. I had pals like Bhargav, who convinced me of the fact that you can have great friends in the college too, and of course not forgetting my other pals in the H1 batch as well as the IT department as a whole. There was just one thing I had dreaded the most in my school life- Division (Section) Change. And this very thing which I feared the most, is supposed to be embraced by me tomorrow. It’s gonna be a “From IT (SFI) to CE (SFI)” tomorrow afternoon.

Most of the people who will embrace CE or any branch change tomorrow will be for just one obvious reason – “Prospects”. But that is not at all the case with me. I am not at all lured by the great placements that occur in the Computer Department year after year. For me the biggest reason for my branch change decision is my parents’ happiness. The palpable fact I know is- my parents will be much happier seeing me studying the damn reputed CE Department of DDU. There cannot be a bigger reason than me than this to embrace CE. It’s for their smile I am slogging and will continue to. I would also not deny the fact that, it’s a matter of pride to study in DDU’s Computer Department, a place which is a dream for thousands in Gujarat Board.

As far as my interest is concerned, IT and CE are synonyms to an extent with hardly a few subjects different in the 4 years of rigorous book-gulping. I would still be closer to my love programming and also my virtual wife “Computer”. There cannot be a better incentive than this to take up CE seriously and with happy compliance. And to an extent, it’s just not Compliance. I would love to pursue Computer Engineering to an extent as this what I had dreamt for myself as a child. I remember answering a prompt “Computer Engineer” when people asked me, “What do you want to become when you grow up?”

Lastly, I would like to define the “Tomorrow” of the blog post title. “Tomorrow” stands for my life in Computer Engineering. It’s gonna be new world, a new name, a new identity and all for a better tomorrow. Tomorrow’s sun shall rise orange representing IT but will get yellow representing CE. IT was my “Yesterday”, CE is gonna be my “Tomorrow” and I stand at the intermediate of the two in “TODAY” absolutely clueless of tomorrow’s world. I am going to board a train, a train which is a dream train for people to be in, but at the same time I am gonna descend down from a train which was once MY (Yes MY IT) dream train. I would be proud when this dream train disembarks me at the destination called “B.Tech Computer Engineering” but equivalently true is a fact that, I would still cherish the one year commuted in the IT Train.

Love & Regards,

Due to unanticipated high results in the 2nd SEM, I am on the verge of getting a “Branch Change” in the college. Practically seeing, it’s a positive and straight forward happening, but for the heart within me, it’s a robust gust of emotions with lots of uncertainties swirling within it. I started off in DDU as an IT Engineer and now I am on the verge of being transformed into a Computer Engineer. Yesterday I was an ITian and tomorrow’s sun might make me a CEian. All these emotions packaged in this blog post.

[6,1
